AVCC Digital Competition File Setup

All image files submitted in AVCC monthly digital competitions must adhere to the following requirements:

  1. Files must be of type "jpeg".
  2. The file must be less than 1 megabyte in size and the image must not exceed a width of 1024 pixels or a height of 768 pixels. Note this height restriction applies to both portrait and landscape formats. It may be necessary to reduce the Quality when writing out the file until a file size of less than 1 megabyte is achieved.

The following are step-by-step examples for resizing naming image files using some popular image-editing software.

PhotoShop Elements Example:

  1. In Photoshop Elements, open file of competition photo.
  2. Select Image on Tool Bar.
  3. Select Resize.
  4. Select Image Size.
  5. Set Width to a maximum of 1024 pixels or Height to maximum of 768 pixels.
  6. Select OK.
  7. Select File and Save As on Tool Bar.
  8. Select location to save file.
  9. Select Format: JPEG (*.JPG,*JPEG,*.JPE).
  10. Type in your file name.   
  11. Select Save.
  12. Set Quality to achieve file size less than 1 megabyte. In most cases, Maximum Quality will accomplish this.
  13. Select OK.
  14. Close PhotoShop Elements.

ArcSoft Photo Studio Example: 

  1. In ArcSoft Photo Studio, open file of competition photo.
  2. Select Edit on Tool Bar.
  3. Select Image Size.
  4. Set Width to a maximum of 1024 pixels or Height to maximum of 768 pixels.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Select File and Save As on Tool Bar.
  7. Select location to save file.
  8. Select File Type: Jpeg (*.JPG,*JPEG).
  9. Type in your file name.
  10. Set Quality to achieve file size less than 1 megabyte. In most cases, Maximum Quality will accomplish this.
  11. Select Save.
  12. Close ArcSoft Photo Studio.

Other photo editors work similarly.
